Delhi Metro will extend its network from Narela in the national capital Rithala to Kundli in Sonepat district in Haryana, it was announced on Thursday.
Delhi Metro's Red Line will be extended to Haryana's Kundli, connecting Haryana and Uttar Pradesh via Delhi for the first time. The 26.463 km corridor will include 21 stations, boosting regional connectivity.
In an effort to boost connectivity between the national capital and neighbouring states, Delhi Metro's Red Line will be extended to Haryana's Kundli.
The Union Cabinet on Friday approved the 26.463-km Rithala-Kundli corridor as part of Delhi Metro's Phase-IV project. This corridor will be the first to directly connect Haryana and Uttar Pradesh via Delhi. With this expansion, Delhi Metro will become one of the three largest metro networks in the world.
This new line, which will feature 21 stations, will extend the operational Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda)-Rithala (Red Line) corridor and will improve connectivity in the northwestern parts of Delhi, such as Narela, Bawana, and parts of Rohini.
The corridor will be Delhi Metro's fourth extension into Haryana. The metro network currently operates up to Gurugram, Ballabhgarh, and Bahadurgarh in Haryana.
A government statement mentioned that the construction of Phase-IV (three priority corridors) consisting of 65.202 km and 45 stations is currently underway. More than 56% of the construction has been completed so far.
