The Central Government has approved the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC), a 121.7 km rail line aimed at enhancing connectivity and decongesting the Delhi-NCR railway network. This corridor will run from Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna, Manesar and Kharkhauda, roughly along the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway, and will be developed by the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC). With an estimated cost of around ₹5,600 crore, the project is designed to serve both passenger and freight traffic, improve links to industrial and logistics hubs, and connect with the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. By providing an alternative route that bypasses Delhi, it is expected to reduce congestion, boost economic activity, support industrial growth in Haryana and strengthen logistics efficiency under the “Make in India” initiative.
